HolyBruhBrine's self-described journey on 2b2t (from an October 2018 interview):

"I joined June 1st, 2016.

I’ve never told anyone on 2b2t this, but a close friend of mine who I, among other things, had played minecraft with when I was younger had committed suicide a few weeks before I joined the server, I felt guilty about his suicide because I had gotten more busy with clubs and my school’s student council and I was thinking about him constantly, and about how he wouldn’t ever be in my life again. I was watching minecraft videos that we used to watch together when I saw TCR’s video in the sidebar, and after it being recommended for a few hours of videos I decided to click on it, I had never heard of 2b2t or TCR beforehand and I joined the server after a few minutes of watching.

Well, when I joined I stayed around spawn and didn’t do anything, I fully intended to never join again.

Then, on my birthday June 3rd, I felt compelled to join the server, it had been around for so long that it guaranteed to me that whatever I would make or do on this server wouldn’t ever be forgotten. After a job interview I went home and joined the server, it was horribly laggy but I managed to escape and get basic gear, on the X+ highway about 3k out I harvested oak trees for apples and replanted them. I don’t know what it was about the repetitive nature of breaking the tree and planting the sapling but it made me think about my friend. I kept growing the orchard for in his memory and I believe that he’d be proud of me doing what we used to love to do together while thinking of him. Everyday after school I logged onto the spot and everyday whatever I had done previously had been griefed, but I kept going. I planted more wheat or saplings and repaired whatever I could and kept making the orchard bigger and bigger. A few weeks in I gave it a name, I called it the orchard of peace.

After just over a month gone by I was able to move on, so I left the orchard and went on my own.

I didn’t do much other than explore following the orchard until I started being active on the reddit and I messaged back in forth with a guy named inv41idu53rn4m3. He told me about a group that had roots before TCR joined but was just starting to rise in prominence on the server. This group was called The Vortex Coalition. When I joined I immediately found the 4chan-esque culture that I had been warned about with this server. I didn’t mind it, but it was new for me. Although the leaders of VoCo, coltsnid and Oreo, seemed a bit brash when I first joined, it only took me a while before I realized what VoCo was.

Before Rusher’s video the Vortex Coalition was basically just a massively successful shitpost to piss off Sato but wanting to make VoCo into something greater coltsnid turned on the propaganda machine and tried to get as many members as possible from the new influx.

Anyways, coltsnid and Oreo saw how hardworking and loyal I was to the coalition and I quickly rose up the ranks, only a few weeks in I had become one of the highest ranked members in the entire coalition.

By November I had became on of the most prominent members in the coaliton largely due to my campaign of recruitment, through reaching out personally to players, or creating recruitment sanctuaries at spawn, I had personally recruited over 40 members into the Vortex Coalition, at the time making up about 10% of the members. I had worked a few hundred hours for VoCo and I also had led the Wrath of VoCo project at 420 911 gaining much influence because of it.

In January VoCo introduced a new elected position called the Prime Minister, by this time I had accumulated over a thousand hours of work for VoCo and recruited about 100 members into the Vortex Coaliton, and the members I personally recruited made up 40% of the members of VoCo, because of this I easily won and did a good job as prime minister, finally gaining *some* prominence outside of just the Vortex Coalition but in the community in general

Running the Coalition while going through college was stressing out coltsnid and creating tensions between him and others in leadership. Although coltsnid continues to say even today that all events leading up to the fall of VoCo were other sources debate this. As it was planned a large swath of prominent VoCo members quit VoCo and started a “VoCo civil war” for publicity and coltsnid declared himself a god and required that all members become his disciples. The events that took place outside of this were not planned. VoCo leaders started to get messages from coltsnid that were harsh and unplanned. As that happened coltsnid banned many members who, for one reason or another, were opposed to how VoCo was being managed. These unfair bans ended with many of VoCo’s bases being leaked and even more people becoming upset with coltsnid.

I created a discord I called the VoCo life raft as a refuge for members who were being banned and to preserve the culture and contact information of the Vortex Coalition community and I managed to get over 2/3s of the members of VoCo to join, I ended much of the confusion as to what was happening by sharing all the information I had about the events taking place and I was prepared to rebuild VoCo. It was at this point that executive member Sengorn_Leoparde, sick of coltsnid’s unpredictability, banned every single member of the Vortex Coalition discord.

I think AmericanOreo explained the situation well by saying:

“I know what its like to get completely bored of the internet. It's normal to want to go do normal things with real life people, instead of coming on and having to organize 100's of them. Nothing like this has been done on 2b2t, and I doubt it will be.

It was a large amount of stress for us, Casey Neistat level shit. Constantly having to change a formula to maintain "popularity". Why keep trying.

So colton has a bad day and flips shit and the most stressful thing in his life gets cut Why take shit from anyone on the internet. Lives short.”

After the fall of VoCo my discord: The VoCo Life Raft was all that remained. For days, we reminisced, talked and thought about the future before we decided that it’d be best to move on and make a group that would preserve the culture of VoCo without the instability of it’s leaders. I decided to call it Singularity and I became it’s founder and leader.

Singularity wasn’t anything particularly special when it comes to groups. I tended to talk it up more than it deserved, but it wouldn’t be fair to call it irrelevant in 2b2t history either. We created our own nice bases and continued the culture of Phase II VoCo. About a month after we formed, through a mutual friend I met a good friend of mine even today named TheDark_Emperor. He was the leader of another relatively new group called the Emperium. Our members hit it off and be quickly became close allies, we learned a lot from each other and worked together on many joint projects and bases and continued to do so for a few months, things were going well for us.

In May of 2017, Salamander, one of my closest friends during Phase II of VoCo messaged me giving me a invitation to drop everything and join the Vortex Coalition which was revealed to be still in existence but underground and with only 5 members. I declined his offer because I both had a good thing going with Singularity and didn’t want to work under coltsnid after the January incident. He was disappointed but understood and I passed on the information of VoCo’s coming return to the Emperium.

When VoCo returned in June 2017 their leadership made my group Singularity the scapegoat for VoCo’s failure in January and became very hostile towards me and my members, TheDark_Emperor and I decided to fight the hostility by insiding VoCo and so we began the process. A few days in I recalled all of my members from trying to inside VoCo and all seemed to be going well.

I awoke on July 10th 2017 to a ping towards the account I personally was insiding VoCo with before I called it off from Salamander saying that he knew it was me. We had a traitor who told Salamander every single alternate account name and left us to join VoCo. We brought the conversation into DMs where I found out who it was that insided.

After a while of talking Salamander brought up the fact that they had my dox. Months earlier I had made the dumb mistake of commenting on a VoCo video using my personal account and Oreo had used the information in the videos to find out all my personal information. I asked what it would take for them not to release my dox and Salamander said that I would have to quit 2b2t for at least 4 years and delete Singularity. As much as I loved 2b2t, it wasn’t worth sacrificing my future to be able to play on a minecraft server. I made a formal announcement on the reddit, explaining the situation I was put in and asked TheDark_Emperor to take care of any of my members that wanted to join the Emperium. I quit, it was different being without 2b2t. At first I was depressed to not be allowed to talk with my friends, but then I focused on real life and drastically improved my life. I was happy not being a part of 2b2t anymore. It was like being forced to quit a drug.

5 months went by until, in November of 2017, I got a message from 2 of my old friends from my singularity days furleoxnop and Ericudo asking me if I wanted to join a base on a super secret alternate account. I remembered how much fun I had on 2b2t. I felt like I was relapsing, I knew it was the wrong decision to rejoin but I did anyways. I ended up joining the base Empire’s Edge and doing some things at it. Mainly helping with other people’s builds but I had some of my own stuff to work on. I was kinda scared about getting found out, but I figured they wouldn’t know about the new alternate accounts that I had acquired.

After 2 months of secretly being back, In January 2018 I got a message from a executive, founding member of VoCo called CyanLime, it read:

“hey im gonna try and sort the dox situation for you

ive only just recently found out about the whole thing and im disgusted tbh”

I was open to being allowed back into 2b2t without hiding my identity so I took him up on his offer and I received an apology from every member of the VoCo staff team that had any knowledge of the events that took place. Apparently coltsnid wasn’t let in on how extreme the threat was and partially because of coltsnid finding out what they did, Salamander and Oreo got “fired” a few months later.

Being allowed back, I became a official member of the emperium. I was proud to be a member and was generally well respected in the group.

Having strong ties to members of both the emperium and VoCo I was appalled to hear of the mutually detrimental Voperium war caused, in a large part, because of me. After I was allowed back I immediately jumped into action, contacting coltsnid and emperor and convincing them both to end the war. Through my and my leader’s hard work we turned two groups of people who were taught to hate each other to love each other and the Voperium alliance became, and still is, one of the strongest alliances in 2b2t. Between, what I am sure from my experiences with both the groups, are the most powerful and influential groups on 2b2t

I became inactive again though and around July 2018 I became active again. I gained rank in both the emperium and the VoCo discord as a showing of the two’s bond and I became a active leader in both emperium and VoCo from July 2018 until just recently when school got busier for me.
